'Million Women Rise' march in London | Demotix.com
Yesterday I happened to be leaving the BHS coffee bar in Oxford Street, oh the life of the aspiring photojournalist, where I had been filing my photos of the Tibetan freedom March earlier in the day when I heard the unmistakable commotion of an approaching march.
After grabbing my camera and heading toward the sounds of chanting I found it to be the "Million Women March" a protest against male violence so I took the opportunity to shoot some images which I filed to the Demotix agency - see link below.

29th January 2010 Tony Blair, former Prime Minister, appeared before the Chilcot inquiry into the Iraq war. Blair’s appearance was met by protestors including Stop the War Coalition protesting against the Iraq War which they believe to have been illegal.

The Cycle Tour of Britain Final Stage Eight London

Yesterday The Cycle Tour of Britain Final Stage, stage 8 was played out on the streets of central London. The Embankment from Westminster Bridge to the Tower of London was closed to traffic to allow the final stage of the 2009 Tour of Britain to take place. London saw 96 cyclists at the peak of their sport race along the Embankment to the cheers of the onlookers. The 92km Ten lap stage began at Whitehall and took the riders past many a London landmark as they fought it out for victory. The Tour of Britain ran over eight days beginning in North Lincolnshire on the 12th September and ending in London on the 19th. The race was supported by The Prostate Cancer Charity and transport for London (TfL)

Jaime Hayon’s “The Tournament” a Giant Chess Board Appears in Trafalgar Square London

Yesterday a giant chess set title “The Tournament” appeared in London’s Trafalgar square. The board, complete with giant ceramic hand painted chess pieces created by Spanish artist Jaime Hayon, is part of London’s Design Festival which runs until 27th September. The chess set, with pieces up to 2 metres tall, will remain in Trafalgar Square until Wednesday. The pieces were made in Bosa in the Veneto region of Italy.

Michael Jackson Flashmob Trafalgar Square London

Today dedicated Michael Jackson fans met in Trafalgar Square in London to perform a “Flashmob” dance routine of Jackson’s hit Thriller. The fans paid tribute to the late “King of Pop” at the Thriller Flashmob on what would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday. The idea was to create the biggest ever grouping of people dancing to Thriller at once.

London Climate Camp 2009 at Blackheath Day 3

On Wednesday thousands of people converged on London for the annual Climate Camp protest when the various bands of supporters were led to Blackheath, a prosperous suburb in South East London. Now, day three of the protest, the site is secured and the protestors are settled in for a series of workshops and meetings with the occasional incursion into the outside world to protest.

London Climate Camp March on Barclays HQ in Canary Wharf
Today circa 100 protestors left the climate camp at Blackheath to march on the HQ of Barclays Bank in Canary Wharf. Other than a few British Transport Police at Canary Wharf the police were notable by their absence. There were however no shortage of Barclays security guards. The Climate Camp Twitter feed, says : “Why Barclays? Loans worth 6 billion to coal companies and to arms trade"
